Our ramblings about marketing and web development – What's new and exciting this week

In the ever-evolving world of social media, it’s easy to feel left behind by your competitors in what has become a virtual rat race for a presence in your given market’s social media biome.

You’ve got accounts across various platforms- most likely Facebook and Twitter, at a bare minimum- and may even be succeeding in your quest for original and engaging content. So why have your followers and friends numbers begun to plateau? Why have your site visits and leads from your social networking efforts diminished?

Before you erase your accounts in a frenzy of frustration, check for one simple trait on your profiles and pages: interaction.

The goal of your business’ social media strategy should be to engage in dialog, whether through direct messages, re-tweeting, linking to friends’ and followers’ pages, or other creative conversation generators.

Not only does this create the immensely important relationships with potential clients or networking cogs, but it offers a forum to prove your expertise in your field. As an added bonus, your name will appear more frequently in the news feed visible to your network and extended network (through those with which you are interacting,) increasing brand awareness without flooding your pages with content that may be a stretch to connect in relevance to your demographic.

Remember: Social media was made for networking, and networking is all about interacting!
