The summer months are often notoriously slow for many businesses, as they watch their sales drop when customers leave town for vacation. Summer doesn’t mean that you have to simply sit idly by and watch your business slow to a halt. Instead, try spicing up your summer marketing campaigns with some fresh new ideas that might just breathe some new life into your marketing campaigns.

1. Start your own business holiday – Give your customers a reason to drop in and stay a while. If that doesn’t makes sense, try utilizing some of the funnier and little-known holidays out there and make them work for your business. National Gummy Worm Day takes place in July. In August, you could celebrate National Ice Cream Sandwich day. If nothing else, a little event for fun will draw people back to your business and brand and keep them coming back for more.
2. Signage is Key – If your business caters to the local economy, it might not be a bad idea to get a banner and put it in a place of prominence. Take advantage of window space, vehicle wrap or even a custom flag to get your business in people’s minds. Regardless of how you do it, get your brand out there!
3. Take Advantage of July 4th – We’re a patriotic nation, and flying our colors and flag turn your business into a landmark. Consider flying a few, or give people little flags to take the week before the 4th. Capitalizing on our country’s patriotism is not only good for the spirit, but it’s great for business!
4. Offer a Summer Treat – If people buy from your business, consider partnering with a local ice cream or soda joint for a reward. Give business to another business and get business at your own. Incentives build fanfare, and providing people with a reward might just get them spreading the word out and coming back for more.
5. Try Something New – If you feel that all your marketing tactics are simply the same old, same old, consider changing it up. Summer is the perfect time to let loose and really have fun. Get the ideas flowing and see what your employees, friends and family would like to see. It’s never too late to try something new, so be creative and have fun.
