The Fundamental Five: Successful Modes of Communication for Your Site
When it comes to your websites authority, content is everything. To be a truly successful website, sure it must have a clean and professional design, but when you break it down to the nitty-gritty, it’s all about what you have to say. When a well-written search engine optimized article is published, it has keywords in all of the right places, but should also have a catchy headline, up-to-date relevant content and a unique flair that separates it from other articles on the same topic. If this weren’t done, the article wouldn’t be shared and would remain just another boring article that readers wanted nothing to do with. It’s not only in what you say, it’s in how you say it too.
But, if you really want to keep your readers interested and coming back for more, you have to be sure you are familiar with all of the different facets of media you have available at your fingertips. There are a variety of ways to relay your message to your target audience; however these five are a good way to get a jumpstart.
- Blogging. Blogging is a great way to voice what it is you think your readers are interested in hearing about. Whether it is a press release, an announcement, a how-to post or an editorial, a blog post is a great way to use your voice while helping to build authority. Be sure to optimize your posts for the search engines by adding custom meta titles, descriptions and custom tags.
- Videos. This past May on Youtube’s sixth birthday, Google released on its blog that Youtube had successfully reached 3 billion users per day. Videos are a great way to share information on different social media platforms as well as to spark conversations about a specific topic. In order for your video to reach as many viewers as possible, be sure to research popular keywords to figure out which keywords will best fit your target audience. And, as always, optimize it for the search engine by paying attention to titles, description and tags.
- Webinars. By using presentation software such as Powerpoint, you can present information to your viewers online. Webinar software, such as GotoWebinar, is required but is a great way to connect with your audience in a professional manner while establishing authority. It’s never a bad idea to record your webinar, just make sure that when sharing it out on different video sites that you read over the terms and conditions to avoid having your video taken down.
- White papers. If you have access to an industry expert within your company, or are willing to hire a freelancer, white papers are the way to go. These informational free guides are great to engage the audience, teaching them useful information about a specific topic. These help build authority on a website while encouraging visitors to come back for more.
- Infographics. Brainstorm topic ideas with your team to decide what topic to cover and how to best cover it. After all of the research is done, you can begin designing an interesting infographic that will grab the reader’s attention. The idea is to be concise with your point while encouraging the audience to share out your infographic. Be sure to include social media icons with your graphic so that it can be spread out quickly and easily.
